A new addition at Zomerlust is Daniel Langenhoven's wine cellar, Boutique Barátok (meaning "Friends" in Hungarian).
Daniel has been producing wines on a small scale for a number of years, and recently found a new home on the Zomerlust premises.
Quality wines of labels such as Welgegund, Roulou and Laska are now produced here by hand, and visitors can get a taste of these quality wines at Die Kraan, the Zomerlust bar.
The cellar - a venture of two friends Alex Boraine and Daniel Langenhoven - opened its doors in January 2012 on the premises of Zomerlust Guest House in Paarl.
Boutique Barátok is the home of Welgegund, Laska Wines, Kipepeo, Roulou and Diamant & Son. 27 tons were harvested in the 2012, with White cultivars (20%) consisting of Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc and Red (80%) cultivars consisting of Shiraz, Petit Verdot, Pinotage, Cinsaut, Carignan and Grenache Noir. These are used for Welgegund, Laska The One and the Top end of Diamant & Son. Some of the wine is bought in for Laska Wines, Kipepeo and Diamant & Son and will only be used if the quality meets the cellar's high standards.
You can visit Boutique Barátok for a personalised wine tasting, and accompany it with lunch or dinner in the cosy Restaurant.
