More about Zomerlust Gastehuis
For the discerning guest ... Stylish elegance steeped in the history and romance of a bygone era.
In the breathtaking Paarl valley everything has a history and none more than the well known family of Abraham Pieter de Villiers. They have been important role players in this history ever since their very first French Huguenot ancestor arrived in 1685. Beautiful Zomerlust, of which the origins are traced back to the 18th century, was the home of three generations of this illustrious family.
Zomerlust has been witness to a lavish lifestyle of people living and entertaining in the very best and most elegant manner, to such an extent that at one stage it was referred to as Buckingham Palace!
Today this unique guest house, beautifully restored to its former splendour, exudes all these proud traditions.

THE ambience created is finely attuned to French Huguenot and Cape Dutch roots with the easy comfort of English country estate living. Exquisite, finely crafted antiques and rich fabrics grace well appointed public rooms and the en suite bedrooms - all adding to your comfort and sense of enjoyment. Attention to minutiae cares for your every need - right down to small sewing kits in each bedroom.
PROMPT and friendly service does the renowned Cape tradition of hospitality proud. At Zomerlust everything possible is done to ensure your comfort, making you feel thoroughly at home.
ZOMERLUST offers much more than only the manor house, with its facade on a busy thoroughfare. The magical world of peace and tranquility inherent to the estate, unfolds as one enters the back garden which seems to go on forever. Softly splashing fountains, sweet smelling roses and herbs and a creeper-covered pathway leading to shaded arbours - any moment a lady in crinolene and parasol could appear! All doing justice to the name Zomerlust, roughly translated to summer pleasure. Here you can enjoy the pleasure of alfresco dining or be treated to a proper South African braai.
IN the midst of all this tranquility you will find the original stables, called Die Stal, sensitively restored to house four comfortable en suite bedrooms. The original trough has even been retained in one of the downstairs bedrooms. In close proximity, expect to find a swimming pool, privately and attractively situated. Here you can relax and cool down after a day's sightseeing, surrounded by magnificent trees and sweet smelling plants.
